Seeing Almost-Celebrities

Well, I'm not going to mention a lot about today, which was generally a good day, besides this:

We crossed paths with two sorta-celebrities today.  The first, when we were rep-re-SENT!-ing Rose's Rescue at a dog adoption fair, was when we crossed paths with Dick Goddard, this really, really old weathercaster from the Cleveland area that has achieved legendary status.  He is to Cleveland's local news weather what Bob Barker is to "The Price is Right," I think... And, to make the metaphor a little deeper, Goddard is also a local animal activist, lending is personality cult to various rescue events for critters.  I acquired a new sticker for my laptop, which advertises his "Woolybear Festival (whatever the fuck that means) XXXIV"

The other person we saw today was Dennis Kucinich, former Cleveland mayor, current U.S. Representative and multiple-time fringe presidential candidate.  He was visiting the cafe at the Web of Life food market somewhere west of Cleveland at the same time we were there with Kory and Amy.  The only things I knew about him where the facts that he was a US Rep and a fringe presidential candidate.  Kory spotted the man and ended up introducing himself.  I remained with The Amys while Kory went and talked because... I was too much of a pussy.  And honestly, like I said, I didn't know much about the man.  The more I read about him tonight, the more I like him and... the less chance I could ever actually give the man to get elected.

That unfortunately means that he is, indeed, in the Almost-Celebrity category.  I'll go ahead and kick myself in the ass for not introducing myself if he (miraculously) wins the presidency some day, but then I won't really care because I'll be happy that it's not another fucking Bush.
