Tonight, it's raining. This would be a pretty unspectacular event (especially in northeast Ohio), but it hasn't done this that I can remember for a month or more.

Rarity makes things more interesting, I guess.

The rain is taking away the snow.  All that stored, frozen water is melting and the rain and former snow are combining to turn into basement rivers of grossness.  Either way, the rain is beating on our roof right now, and that sounds okay.

I'm getting worried about myself this semester.  This may be the first semester that I've really, really, really spread myself way too thin mentally.  Physically, I'm doing just fine so it's not like that time back in the day when I took 27 hours of classes and worked 60 hours a week for a semester.

That almost killed me.  Literally.

No, this time, it's definitely only my brain.  I can feel my brain beginning to shut down, like an engine that's been run too hot for too long.  I'm not nearly as sharp as I was a couple of months ago, or even a few weeks ago.  Normally, I can play through the tiredness/insanity, but this time my mind is not responding.

The drool I typed up for my sociology paper earlier this week, and my dissertation this morning is proof of that.

Remember earlier in the semester?  I was getting all of my shit in order, keeping up with every class and every lecture, and pursuing a very active recreational reading agenda.  This semester, I'm barely keeping myself above water.  It's a struggle, and it's my own fault.  I took on too much, and I'm paying for it.  Unfortunately, I'm paying for it with a loss of mental energy, which could very conceivably start a nasty downward spiral.

I know it is rough right now. I'll do anything I can to help you. We'll make it through this semester. I love you.
