Combining with this sign is a couple of other omens. Today, our two hunks of dead cow were delivered. Now, most people would call these couches, as that is what they are. Yes, the vegan-hopefuls have leather couches in their home.
That should be enough to give you a headache. Hell, it gives me one.
We bought this couch used because it was the best one at our disposal in a price bracket we could afford. It was either these or the nasty smoky faux Africa couches that I've already detailed in earlier posts. We had to do something, because the couch-converted-to-a-loveseat had a giant hole in which Lucy's back leg (the only one she has) had gotten caught several times.
Yuck.
We took the lesser of two evils, which thus far has rewarded us with a terribly vanilla living room (they're tan), a guilty conscience, and... an amazing amount of comfort. Actually, Amy's been napping on the couch (the first one where you could stretch out on that we've had for more than a year, and the first one you could stretch out comfortably on for longer than that!) for a couple hours now.
I should probably wake her up.
The other omen pointing toward an evening of relative leisure was the arrival of Wii Play, the second edition of Wii-centric video games. We've been wanting to play it since it arrived yesterday, but I came home after my Stark classes and got to work on more lecture stuff. Stupid me.
In other news, the sometimes-scary Dr. Lee (who is sometimes scary because he is my boss and I really can't quite get a read on him) summoned me to his office today. Well, he didn't quite summon me, he awkwardly came to find me while I was walking to teach a class, and then 10 minutes later came into the classroom while I was teaching to (I guess) see if I had finished yet (?) Anyway, he asked me to visit him in his office after my class, to which I agreed.
All he wanted to know was what teaching assignment I prefered for Fall of 2007. He gave me two choices: a U.S. and Canada section that meets MWF at noon, or a Intro to Cartography section that meets MWF afternoons, plus a lab. US/Canada is my favorite class to teach (and it's one that I wouldn't have to prep much for), but cartography is something I'm pretty damn good at and something I want to teach in the future. Also, because cartography has a lab section, its stipend is slightly higher.
Decisions, decisions.
He's given me a couple days to decide. This is about as good of a situation as I could be in.
Either way, I just can't lose.

That is great that they both interest you. You don't get that chance everytime. Go for it.
