Some might say that it's been a while since I've posted anything of consequence on this piece of shit.
Some would be correct.
Some would be correct.
I could lay out some things about how I'm horribly busy, etc. And it's true, I am. I'm taking on two classes at the Stark Campus (Canton) as a super-long-term substitute because the geography prof there was in some sort of accident and will be out of commission for some time. Because of this, I am now taking on another World class and one on Africa.
I've never taught much about Africa.
It will be an adventure, to say the least.
Maggie got a home today. It was very sad to see her go. We've only got two puppies left. Of course, on Friday night we met Amy's parents in Columbus to pick up CJ (now "Cody"), a boxer-terrier mix who looks like Charley's mini-me. He is our next project. Only six dogs in our house, though....
On top of all these things, I made a rather odd decision the other night during Kory & Amy's visit to swap webhosting and domain registrar services. See, as I've admitted a number of times, the MySpace format (and dependence upon its existence) has irritated my blogging sensibilities for some time. I've experimented with going on my own to blog, but haven't found anything that works for me.
Kory and Amy use this CMS called Movable Type, which is really sharp. I've been using Mambo, which really isn't very sharp, and is quirky enough that my Amy never really bonded with it for her website. I've also heard rumors that it will allow many features I value on the MySpace blog (subscriptions, comments, etc) and add more that I want (no required log-ins for comments, proper archiving, etc).
So, I decided to finalize the annulment of my relationship to Yahoo!, move to godaddy.com and get Movable Type going for Amy's site, our joint site, and my blog. I planned on leaving my website (which I've developed at least somewhat suitably) on Mambo since I've finally figured out the quirks.
In the move, everything's been a nightmare on some levels. I tried to export the databases for my website (which hold all that development I've done... all the text and info), but the godaddy server's phpmyadmin is too new to read my databases. In other words, I'm going to have to copy and paste a massive amount of information to bring my website back to where it was. Not the end of the world, but annoying on its own.
Installing Movable Type has been a horror movie all its own. I can't make the fucking thing even install. My Amy says that I should call Kory-and-Amy Amy to get help because she's a genius at web management and I am not. I am too much of a chicken to a) call someone on the phone, b) call someone, like me, who isn't a fan of socializing, c) use my friend for something, d) use my friend for something she does for hours every day in a job she generally dislikes, and e) admit that I am a complete moron.
I am reminded regularly why I was hesistant to move away from simply HTML to a CMS...
Instead, our websites will just remain offline while I keep my head in my ass, being stubborn about fixing things. Besides, it's not like I don't have other shit (three classes to teach, two to take and a dissertation to write) to do.
Then again, I know that Kory-and-Amy Amy will probably read this, and I may be able to offer her vegan pizza and brownies as a reward... Mmmmmmmmm! And maybe a night of bowling? Or puppy play time?
Anything.
ANYTHING!

Godaddy hosting sucks pretty bad (even though the domain situation is pretty good). If you get tired of them and want to move somewhere else, I can hook you up for cheap. I just need to know how much space and bandwidth you need.
