Comfort!

Tonight has been the first night in probably more than a week that I haven't had to work on school shit.  Now, don't get me wrong, there's plenty to do, especially with my dissertation.  Tonight, however, is the first time that there's nothing pressing and due tomorrow.  I decided that this was a sign that I should get some much needed relaxation.

Africa (Almost) Comes to Our Living Room

Finally.  Finally everything is falling into place.

"Aha, I thought. Problem solved."

If I were to describe today in a few words, I would call it "really fucking stupid."

Ring This.

Africa class will be interesting, I think.  Already today, I had my supply and demand curves corrected by a girl who's got a masters degree in economics and is going back for a teacher certification.

Well, Now, That Just Sucks.

I suppose it is a good thing that we didn't buy any furniture for our living room or a laptop for Amy (a new consideration beginning last night) or anything else with our tax refund.

If You Can't Do Something Nice...

So, remember last time when we had grand plans to buy a couch and a loveseat when we got our income tax return?  Those plans have been derailed.

Yay for Taxes!

The cool thing about taxes, as I've found in my infinite years of experience, is that tax time means money in our pockets. See, we've always been so incredibly broke that we always get almost all of our money back that we paid in.

Snow Pic

Okay, here's a picture of the snow in our 'hood. Representing the 330, the 44310, North Hill, Chapel Hill, Akron, Ohio, Beyotches....

Web Woes

Okay. I gave up on godaddy.com after their service emails were pretty much a joke. I decided to switch our domain back to our regular hosting at Yahoo and have it point back to our old websites. Rumor has it that Yahoo! is much easier to get Movable Type on than godaddy. I don't know.

Snow Day

Today is a snow day.  Kent State cancelled class in Kent and Stark campuses.  No teaching.  No learning.  Classes were cancelled as of 2:15 pm and "snow emergency parking" rules apply, which mean unless your car is in a residential lot, it's towed.

Anything?

Some might say that it's been a while since I've posted anything of consequence on this piece of shit.

Some would be correct.

Kent's Hockey Brawl

The most wonderful thing about YouTube is that the otherwise forgettable or not-covered news events now get recorded and recognized. This can be a very good thing in some cases (like when guys save people from burning buildings) or very bad (think: Michael Richards). It gives us evidence to support ridiculous claims of "we were there."

Odd Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend has been a little strange, I think. Friday night was a trip to Canton with Kory & Amy to drop off the Volvo for service and eat at Red Robin. That was all well and good. That night included video games, puppy playtime and the downloading of MarioKart 64 to the Wii.

Walking Taco Auto Hypnosis

I've made it through another week of craziness, and I've kept my head above water. At the same time, I've made it through another week without working on my dissertation even the least. I guess every victory comes with a defeat. Tomorrow morning, though, is prime time for dissertation time. I'm hoping to get into work early again and pound out some things. If nothing else, I want to read a lot and take some notes to get my mind going in the right direction.
