"Permission to join the validity committee?"
Well, my religious expedition today was generally disappointing. I made special arrangements to ensure that Amy had a ride to her church with Kory & Amy (Pedro's rear brakes are about shot). I convinced myself to actually go, instead of planning to and then chickening out. I drove out to the address listed as the Akron Friends Meeting over in West Hill, just above downtown off of Market.
And the address listed as the Friends Meeting was a vacant lot. I waited around to see if anyone appeared (who knows, maybe they're hippies who are all about worshipping outside even at the turn of the year, right?), but apparently the vacant lot is not home to the Friends Meeting.
And honestly, it was really sad. See, I was excited. I thought that maybe (just maybe) I had finally found a path for my religious needs and searching. Apparently, this particular path was not the one.
"Permission denied."
Now, I'm not giving up on Quakerism by any means. It is disappointing, though, to have finally gotten ready (and, for the first time that I could ever ever remember, be reasonably excited and not full of dread for attending church) and then have everything crap out. It's doubly shitty because the next meeting for any of the area meetings is next Sunday. By going for the Akron one, I fried my chances (due to timing) the chances to hit meetings in Kent, Wooster or Cleveland this week.
I think I'll either try Kent or Cleveland next week.... if I can work things out again and not chicken out.
So much for that perfect storm.
