I'm officially completely finished with the semester. I just put on the final grades for my U.S. and Canada class, which is the absolute last thing that had to happen for me to be finished. All of my students did pretty well. So did Amy and I on our final grades.
High-fives and ass-smacks all around!
The new picture of me featured to the left is, in my opinion, somewhat funny. Last night when I stepped out of my once-in-a-great-while shower, Amy started making fun of my hair, calling me names like "ghericurl boy" and "Lionel Ritchie." When I saw myself in the mirror, I have to admit, I had hair that most men in the late 1970s and 1980s would have killed for. So, for a few weeks, everyone will be subjected to my ghericurl madness.
I also accidentally killed the betta fish in my office. I forgot to turn on the heat Thursday night (or possibly, the janitor turned it off as part of a campus mandate to save energy, which has happened before) and poor Alpha basically froze to death. When I came in and felt my office in an Arctic condition, I knew he was probably no more. I tried for 20 minutes to revive him with warm water, and there was no sign of life. I feel absolutely terrible about it, and horribly ashamed. The poor little guy.
I loved my little fish. He was a lot of company, believe it or not. I gave him a private funeral in the bathroom near my office where I always took him to change his water.
It was always one of his favorite places.
