Radio Free Akron: Debate This.

There's nothing like an indepth debate about a topic with which you've only just recently become familiar to prove that you're a jackass.

To say the climate change debate went terribly would be an understatement. We were overmatched from the get-go, and it was just a miserable two hours of my life. We were on our heels the entire time, because the other side brought things we hadn't even started to think about.

We won via the class voting. We definitely should have lost. And I can't stop thinking that the poor results were mostly my fault. I was supposed to lead this mess, and it didn't work.

Hell, I thought we were pretty prepared. Although, I have to say, I knew probably less about climate change than anyone else in the class in the beginning. I'm just taking the class for informative purposes, and it seems like everyone else there has a strongly vested interest.

The debate was embarrassing because we thought we were ready, and we really weren't. If it wasn't such a public humiliation, I could have just chalked it up to experience.

Ugh. I'm glad it's over.

Now, I have to use my in-class lecture next week to regain my confidence and the confidence of my peers. It shouldn't have come to that.

I'm basically ashamed.
