Only on N! B! C!!!!!!!

It's been kind of a slow weekend.
Last night, Amy ended up having to work a rare night shift (3 to 11) at the hotel. It definitely sucked, because I taught yesterday from 9 in the morning to noon. She had her hands full with some convention of big beautiful women (BBWs) who were quite picky about everything, especially considering the fact that it's a budget hotel.

My highlight of the evening was going out to see her, taking her Subway for dinner. And I do have to say, the BBWs are in danger of being sued for false advertising because the ones I saw were big, and they were women, but the beautiful part wasn't there. I've seen many beautiful larger women, but all of these were the kinds with mean-looking eyebrows, droopy basset-hound like cheeks and deep manly voices. Many of them were also trying to squeeze into clothing 15 sizes too small. C'mon, if you're cursed with the other attributes, you can still get flattering clothes. I've seen them at Lane Bryant and Avenue and other places like that.

Well, there's someone out there for everyone.

I spent much of the evening playing Gamecube and following the Ball State-Indiana football game on the internet. Indiana was playing AT Muncie, the first time any Big Ten school had done so. And Ball State was kicking their asses for the first time ever, leading 23-7 at the half. And then? Ball State lost. So typical. Not that I really care, but it'd be nice if Ball State could be better than I.U. at something.

Anything?

Kory and Amy were nice enough to lend us a Gamecube for a bit. While Amy was at work, I bought Sonic Heroes and Madden 2006, and a memory card to add to the games that came with the loaner deck. The stellar Outside Linebacker I made for the Colts (named after myself, shaped after myself, but with God's athletic attributes) kicked some pretty serious ass.

And, Kory and Amy would be happy to know, I got through the entire beginner level of the main game of Super Monkeyball without continuing (or even dying) on my first try on the home-version of the Gamecube.

Today was pretty okay. Amy skipped church this morning because she was tired and sick. She had some leftover Chinese food after she got off work last night, which was apparently a mistake. I could've told her that Chinese food is a bad idea.

After she recovered and pooped a lot, she rested and then we went for a hike. We're taking part in the Summit County Metroparks' Fall Hiking Spree, which is I guess a pretty big annual tradition for a lot of people. See, what they do is choose a variety of trails in their excellent Metroparks system and make a list. You get a form, and as you hike the selected trails, you get a Metroparks ranger to check off that you did it. If you do eight of them over the course of three months, you get a free walking stick and a shield (a little medal emblem to put on your stick) to mark your accomplishment. The next year, if you do it again, you get another shield to put on your stick.

Today, we took Charley and Lucy on the Oxbow Trail through the Cascade Valley Metropark. In a little while, I'll put some pictures on theshears.com for your enjoyment. The park was beautiful, not quite as good as Gorge Metropark, but it was still a pleasant hike.

And now? We'll, we're laying together in the living room. Amy is playing Animal Crossing, which is her new obsession (gee, thanks Kory and Amy) and she's working into her fourth hour on the game for the day. It's kind of like a child's version of The Sims, crossed with like some fantasy land or something, and it plays in real time. She's been working all night, scavenging things, gathering things and running errands to make money so that she can pay off her house.

Don't ask.

I, on the other hand, am laying next to her on our futon mattress while I watch "The Manning Bowl" ("ONLY on N! B! C!!!!!). The Colts, with Peyton Manning, are playing against the Giants, who have Eli Manning, Peyton's brother. It's just a football game, but it's pretty lame the amount of buildup there has been on TV for a stupid game.

Wait, but how is Amy playing Animal Crossing while I half-watch the Manning Bowl? Well, I've moved the TV from our bedroom downstairs to accomodate both of our needs. Animal Crossing is a one player game. Football is a one-person interest. Both need TVs, so now we have both in one room.

We're... sad.

Tomorrow may include another hike. I can hope. Maybe The Gorge for tomorrow? I want that hiking stick, and I want it bad.
