Big-Box Retail

I'm actually really really excited to teach my class tomorrow. We're going to be talking about economic geography, specifically about agriculture, manufacturing and retail. I love explaining economic systems to student, because it's just so easy and makes so much damn sense so quicky. The number of "holy shit, I actually get this crap!" looks during my economics lectures are always off the charts in comparison to my others.

Coming of Age Stories

I'm really getting tired of coming of age. Yeah, it's great to be so self-aware of my past and my future, and it's relatively fun to be as overly Romantic as I am. But are my introspection processes going to quit being some sort of cheap bastardization of The Garden State or some other coming-of-age story?

Dead Websites and Drugs

Apparently Yahoo! is having major system failures. I can't get our websites, nor any of Yahoo!'s websites to come up. That's a pain in the ass.

Grocery Shopping 2.0

Visiting the Mustard Seed Market was definitely a different experience for us tonight. We'd both been to various fancy-schmancy food markets before, where vegetarian/vegan/organic/gourmet foods are the prime fare. But we've honestly never shopped there with the specific purpose of substinence.

Biblical Numbers

I have to say, the whole announcement about embracing vegetarianism got more response than I expected.  Good work, people.

That's 1200, Asshole!

It's okay, I'm fine.  I just realized how painful that last blog was when I read it.  It almost made me sick.  I would say thanks for the outpouring of affection and cheer, but it would be a lie.  No one wrote me.  I don't blame anyone, as the counter only has registered four views since the last post.  It's not that you didn't care, it's that you didn't know.

A Day I'll Never Forget

Five years ago today, some planes hit some things on purpose. People died, people cried.

Don't Drink that Poison, That's Four Dollars an Ounce!

Chinese food has always made me vomit and be in pain. I'm allergic to all kinds of ingredients, including especially eggs and MSG. Amy, being more normal than I, has no problem with Chinese food and often craves it. This makes something of a logistical problem. It seems silly to go out and eat for one person in a restaurant, so it's only when we're in disagreement about dinner and have extra money that she can get Chinese food.

Sickening Photos

I've been working on the photos that are posted on theshears.com galleries to replace the default captions with something more descriptive. It's a time consuming process because I've got about 1,200 pictures posted. It's one of those organization things that's easier to do as it happens, but I loaded all of those pictures at once, so that was never an option.
