Decorating for the Mentally Ill.

So far, the semester is going okay, I suppose.  There's been nothing terribly surprising, and there's been nothing terribly exciting.  I still don't have internet in my new office, which is totally lame.

Virgil Pictures

We bought Virgil today.  Yep.  Now, we're in Westfield with Amy's family.  Amy and her parents are at church.  I'm not.

Meet Virgil

Virgil is a white 1997 Volvo 960 sedan. He is joining our family. See, we figured out something painful the past 48 hours or so. For one, it seemed pretty silly to pay four grand to GMAC to get rid of a car. Secondly, we found out that two seemingly minor blemishes on the Impala's body were worth $1300 of bodywork, making our dreams of dumping the beast harder to work out.

Awkward Silences and Meta-Blogging

I realized a few minutes ago that it's been nearly a week since I've blogged, which doesn't happen often.  Ironically, the silence came after Carla sent me a message telling me that I write a lot.  The subconscious possibilities are endless.

Indiana-Bound

We're going to Indiana today, and that actually makes me happy. Amy and I haven't been to Indiana together since the end of May. I did go toward the end of June to help my parents move, but I wasn't there very long and I was a little busy for most of that stay.

An Open Letter to Yahoo!

Dear Yahoo!,

First of all, I wanted to tell you that I've been a big fan for a long time. I mean, all the way back in the dark ages of the internet, I remember going to your page in the Burris library to find my way around. Your hierarchied search organization made sense before Google had ever started.

Freshly Mowed Grass

Mmm... sitting outside, marveling at a job well-done. I'm blogging by citronella candlelight on my back patio, admiring the perfectly clean look of my freshly cut lawn. My lawn is now shorter and cleaner-looking than the old Italian neighbor's. No doubt he will mow tomorrow so that he can best mine.

Super Dooper Pooper?

Okay, I have to tell a story. First of all, to set this up, I suppose you need to know that Amy got a job today at the Comfort Inn as a front desk person, which is good news. That means money, flexible shifts that work around her classes, and discounted hotelrooms worldwide. Woot!

I was in the neighborhood.

I thought I'd drop a few deuces while I was in the neighborhood.

Uneventful is the theme of the summer. Very little worth mentioning has been happening for the last month or so. Housework that has been pretty much neglected is calling. Our yard needs mowed and the house needs cleaned.

Calling it the "Dog Days" is Offensive to Charley

It's fucking hot. Like really fucking hot. The internet says that the eastern half of the United States is stuck in a heat wave. The highs this week have all been in the mid-90s with oppressive humidity, so the heat index is like 115. It's terrible.
