It's weird. Being at my parents' house is like being at a hotel anymore. There's a mildly uncomfortable bed of the wrong size in our own room, a private bathroom, satellite TV, a swimming pool, free breakfast, and a free morning newspaper.
I suppose that's all well and good. It's sad, but it makes coming "home" a lot less stressful and a lot more inviting.
So far, it's been a nice few days. Relatively little stress and some good quality time. Mom loaded me up yesterday with materials for my U.S. and Canada class this fall. Today was Dad's birthday, which meant dinner at Outback Steakhouse, which was delicious. Amy has conned me into Ritter's frozen custard the past couple of nights.
We've already eaten at Puerto Vallarta and Uncle Monte's, two of the only places we care to hit while we're in Muncie since we don't have them in Akron. The other, Ivahoe's, may come tomorrow. Mezza Luna, which used to be on the list, closed. Muncie hicks drove out someone else (an "outsider") who was trying to do something good, in order to make a short-term profit. That's Muncie in a nutshell. Hillbillies screwing each other for the almighty dollar.
Speaking of which, flushed $300 down the crapper today. It's going to be like that this week. In preparing for our returning the Impala to GMAC, we had to get the tires replaced to avoid service fees. By the end of the week, we will have given GMAC $5,000 of cash and prizes, plus possession of their automobile. We still have some body work that needs to be done. Why are we doing this financially excruciating thing? Believe it or not, the way the lease is and with the fact that our mileage is out, this is our most efficient alternative. Nothing makes someone feel lamer than this, I've determined. I'm wasting money and losing the car. Fuck GMAC. Especially, Fuck GM. I'm never buying one of their "fine" (cough, cough) products again.
Some website news... I'm still working out the kinks in my personal site. With this entry, I've begun cross-publishing my blogs there. Like I've said, the whole MySpace thing is dying to me and to my audience I think. You'll have to get a user name and password to access the blogs (after the first couple) on my site, which is free and confidential. If MySpace continues to reach its expiration date, then I will eventually quit blogging there.
Also, I put some new videos up of Charley jumping in my parents' pool. It's lame, but whatever. It's our website, and it's fucking streaming video! I also changed our photo albums to a Zoom Gallery set-up. It makes more sense than the old way, and allows comments, ratings and searches of images. Well, it will be effective once I finish putting in captions.
I think that's probably enough for now.
