One thing that did cheer me up today, albeit only briefly, was an odd moment from which I chuckled at myself. As I was walking from my sociology class to McGilvrey to set up shop in my office for the day, I noticed an orientation group out of the corner of my eye, and in that group was, of course, an attractive person of the opposite gender.
I'm married, not dead. And no, I don't really even look that often anyway.
I turned to get a better look, and to my surprise, it wasn't a new, incoming Kent State freshman who (grossly enough) would have been a year younger than my brother had that been the case. No, this lady I had turned to ogle was the mother of an incoming Kent State freshman. And not only was she still attractive on the second glance.... but the daughter whom she was escorting was a girl who, had I turned to check her out, it would have made me feel like a disgusting pedophile and I would have turned quickly away.
When did the moms become hotter than the students? Have I really gotten that old? Either way, laughing at myself over checking out a mom cheered me up for a minute. Hopefully you've managed to keep down your lunch after reading my story.
