So because of the teaching gig down at Tuscarawas, I had to rearrange my schedule. That class, which is during Summer III, conflicted with an Intro to Sociology class that I had scheduled during that session as a prerequisite for my cognate. That means I had to take Sociology during Summer I, which was already a week over once I figured this out. A week in summer school is the equivalent of four weeks in a regular semester.
I went to this "sosh" class yesterday for the first time, already being a week behind. They announced that Tuesday, what was today, there would be the first exam. I bought the book, used the study guide and looked up lecture-based concepts online. I took the exam today. It was a calculated risk. All I need is a C from the class, which doesn't count against my GPA to get the prerequisite fulfilled. And all I needed from this first exam is a passing grade to cruise to that C in a freshman-level intro class. I think I did well on it. I'm expecting around an 84. When you've been in school this long... you can pretty well predict. Few people stay in school this long, though.
I'm going to start the 20th grade this year!
Wow.
After this ridiculously decent exam performance, I travelled all the way to Pet Guards to get Amy to pick her up. We had to get a form notarized. See, someone (somehow) used our Old National Bank card number, for which we haven't touched the account since last September (it's in Indiana) to buy something on eBay. Since there wasn't any money in the account, that caused it to overdraft, incur an overdraft fee plus an additional six bucks for each day it was below water. Of course, we had no idea this happened until we received a harshly worded letter two weeks later. We reported it for fraud (so we wouldn't have to pay their horseshit fees for an account we never ever ever use) and got paperwork that we had to sign and have notarized. Sad thing is, with our work schedules we didn't have time to do it when notary-types were open. We fixed it today with my ridiculously long journey between classes.
After I returned to Kent after the notary adventure, I got Amy's prescription for her toe infection. Then, I got a gyro from Europe Gyro (my first since King Gyros in Muncie was sold to the Mexicans who ran it into the ground) and went to The-Snoozefest-Known-As-Geography-of-the-Middle-East.
I made it through that alive, and taught my class. Finally, I've found my groove in this class. Thank you, God. I was afraid I was about to lose them, which is something I've never approached. THAT is a scary ledge to stand on, when you're a teacher. I was petrified.
All in all, a productive day. Nothing remotely analytical in this post, but a productive day. I felt like collapsing when I came home. Jeez, I'm pathetic.
And this Team of Rivals book I'm reading is one of the most dense (and engaging!) books I've ever read. Books of 800 pages don't take me two weeks. Never. I'm on 497 and I'm into my third week.
