My vacation is dwindling.
After nearly a month of being as totally worthless as possible (save that eight day trip to Indiana), my vacation is drawing to a close. Yes, coming Monday, I'm going to actually have to dress myself somewhat acceptably, drive up to Kent and go to class/work. For most of the rest of the summer, I'm going to have to subject myself to the torture that is a four-day work week, taking one class at a time and teaching one class. Somehow, I'll survive.
All sarcasm aside, it's still just not the same as hanging out at the house with the dogs, going days without bathing or even getting dressed, and filling days with proper doses of NHL '98, web-browsing, recreational reading... and of course, Judges Mathis, Hatchett, Ephriam, Joe Brown, Alex and save-the-best-for-last Judge Judy. And to fill your time from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm, you only have to touch the remote once.
This is not to say I haven't done any work during my furlough. The Indiana book (remember that ancient project?) is getting exceptionally close, with only a few chapters requiring maps and such. Some of these, I will have to do up at Kent since I don't own GIS software. That's a very very old project that I need to get finished. It goes to press this August, and will be used in classes at Ball State this fall.
How's that for some shit?
The Reds are riding a seven game winning streak that includes a just-completed sweep of the mighty Cardinals in St. Louis. They're tied for first, which is something I never expected to say in June.
I'm going through serious sports withdrawal. I can't get TV decent enough to watch sports, nor can I get any on the channels I get. I can't go anywhere to watch live hockey (which is incredibly awful, now that Amy got me hooked) and I can't afford to go downtown for the Aeros right now. Although... the Aeros may be in our near future because I NEED SOME BASEBALL. Maybe we'll go on dollar dog Mondays? Hot dogs at the ballpark are delicious.
Alright, enough blogging. I'm going to read and hopefully put myself to sleep. All this reading, writing and sedentary stuff makes it hard for my body to know when to sleep.
I need some exercise.
