I've now presented both my hazards and terrorism presentations. Both went quite well. Now, all I have to do is turn the information I presented there into reasonably legible and understandable papers.
And this is the remainder of my semester.... boiled down to a week. The light shines at the end of the tunnel.
A couple of pieces of bad news today: one, the online job at Arkansas Tech fell through. While I certainly could have used the money, that's fine because next semester will be plenty busy. Plenty busy.
Mary lost the GSA election for president. I thought this was lame because she had done an excellent job this year as president. The election was somewhat rigged, with Jose bringing people to vote for him that never had attended or participated this year. Aron kept interrupting Mary's speech, too, while Jose got to speak uninterrupted. I thought the whole process was lame, but I really didn't care. I was nominated for Vice President but lost because I basically said I didn't want any offices or responsibility.
Mary was pretty pissed about it, and rightly so. Collette and I are going out with her for a beer. Collette's buying, which is what allows me to go. I don't intend on being out very long, either, because I'm pretty antisocial.
I had already been elected president of the GRAD Group. That's enough for me.
We had to borrow money from my parents to buy dog food. The dogs have been circling the bowl since yesterday because we ran out and were broke. It's sad, and embarrassing.
We're going to have a day in Indianapolis toward the end of May. Monday the 22nd of May, we'll be in Indy with little to do. We're planning to hit up Jon and Kris to meet their new kid (who's nearly a year old now?) and visit, maybe drink beer and eat dinner. If you're interested in hanging out for beer, let me know and I'll see what I can work out. We always see her friends when we're home because they're fairly concentrated in her parents' church. This time, I'm getting some of mine.
Amy's is going to an ASPCA conference in Bloomington on Tuesday and Wednesday of that week, and work is sending her (paying for gas, etc). Her parents are paying for a pet-sitter during that time, so we're actually able to pull this off. We'll still be on-the-cheap, but it'll work. It actually excites me a good bit to go somewhere that's not here. Travelling when I was a kid spoiled me something fierce... I'm always ready to go somewhere else.
Oh, and Seeds of Change came out today, and my article was the center spread. I've already gotten a lot of good feedback for it from people in the department. Makes me feel good.
