They just don't have the horses, specifically in pitching. They'd need a Maddux-circa-1996 out of Arroyo, a Cy Young out of Harang, and a non-sucky year out of Milton. It won't happen. Notice how, despite having the best record in the majors, they've allowed more runs than any other NL team? Even though the NL is having a sub-par year thus far... and that's how they won it all in 1990.... bad pitching always catches up with a team over 162 games. They haven't had a decent staff since that 1990 team of Browning, Rijo, Jackson, Armstrong... then the Nasty Boys of Dibble and Myers out of the pen. Reds pitching always has sucked since then. But I can always hope....
