Article, Broken Bowls, GFS and Strange Documentaries

I've been working on an article for Seeds of Change. It's going to be around 3500 words, so hopefully they like it. Well, I don't care if they really agree with it, but I'd like it if they'd publish it. I'm mostly treating it as an intellectual exercise to think about the American empire and put some thoughts about it into my own words. Publication is secondary. Since Mary doesn't hate me (like I was concerned that she did...) I'm going to have her read it and get her input. I'll post it (or a link to it) here once I get it done and published.

I'm thinking of starting a 'zine. Carla would be proud, right? Anyway, I'm going to use an idea I kinda suggested for her, but locally here. I'm going to theme each edition and give a number of writers a short assignment (500-750 words) on that topic. Put them all together with a short editorial introduction, and maybe they'll be something come out of it. I think I'm going to originally limit it to KSU geographers, and if it begins to work, then expand it from there to other departments... then other places. Wish me luck on this.

Charley somehow broke a bowl in the kitchen. We had put it on the floor so that the dogs could clean the leftovers. Since he's so terrified of the floor (being hardwood) he slid into this bowl and crashed it into the cabinet. Only in our house.

We also went to GFS (Gordon Food Service) tonight. It was wonderful, because it's like a Sam's Club grocery with food service quality food. We got a HUGE can of tapioca, about which I am very excited. We also got a huge bag of restaurant mozzerella sticks for like five bucks, and a huge bag for restaurant fries for four bucks. And people claim that blogging is a glorification of the mundane....

We just watched a documentary called A Dog's Life. It was odd, and I honestly don't recommend it. Cool thing is, the Akron Library has an enormous documentary section that's wonderful and free to check out. I just wish that my spot would come up on the Walk the Line and Good Night and Good Luck waiting lists.

Lucym, the three-legged gimpy dog, thinks that the doorbell on the TV is our doorbell. We don't have one of those, and she hasn't figured that out yet. Anytime there's a ding-dong on TV, she barks.

I think it's time for a PBR... Sounds delicious.
