Burgers, burgers and more burgers

Akron may be the rubber capital of the world, but it should also be considered the burger capital!
Swenson's Drive-In may have the best burgers I've eaten in a long time. It reminds me of In-N-Out Burger in Vegas but with a few differences: the bun seems fresh baked, and the cheese is more amazing. It's marvelous, and Amy and I can eat there for 10 bucks!

Needless to say, I think we're acclimating to Akron fairly well. We've been basically moved in since Sunday. The parents left town on Monday evening, and since then we've been basically alone. We've been getting the house organized fairly well and are trying to add a few of our personal touches to it. Money is a problem in that arena, though.

Speaking of money, Uncle Kenny sold the Olds! That gave us 650 bucks, which means I actually made money on owning that car, I guess. Of course, much of that is already gone, since we had to transfer our licenses and register Pedro, buy general home supplies, and eat at Swenson's, Luigi's and Ray's.

Ray's is in Kent. They also have excellent burgers. Two good local burger places, and we haven't even hit the Louie's place that was recommended for their burgers by our landlord! There's certainly no need to eat at a chain restaurant in this town.

Pedro is dead again. The five hour drive burnt out his belt, which I fixed very easily. But then, after we had eaten at Luigi's, he decided not to start any more. Either his starter or his solenoid is out. In addition, somehow he rolled over a nail in our driveway, so I had to change his right rear tire.... Ugh! That should be easy enough to plug, but we're not sure where to get it plugged. I'm planning to dig into Pedro's problems tomorrow to diagnose his needs. Whichever he needs, a starter or a solenoid, I can fix. I wish I had a good quality jack or a set of ramps, but I don't. That's something to ask Santa for, I guess. That and a creeper. And some tools. And a volt/Ohmmeter. Those minor things, and I can do anything Pedro needs (groan). Either way, Pedro is helping me become more mechanically oriented, which is good. Hopefully I can just get him to the point of dependability before school starts....

The house is getting fairly organized, and we're realizing that we have too much junk. Luckily, we also now have lots of storage, which will hopefull do away with some clutter. Hopefully. We both come from a long line of pack rats, and we're trying HARD to avoid the same.

The house, though, is a wonderful thing. I had no idea that the whole American dream thing really had substance! God, if we're this happy with a rental house, imagine what we'd do if we actually owned it! And, I love having a little office. It's marvelous.

Oh, and we apparently have free cable. When we got the entertainment center set up, Amy called to schedule an appointment for the cable guy to come out next week. I went ahead and plugged in the coax, and voila.... 70 channels. Free. I followed the lines and found that it's not pirated, so I'm not concerned. Amy has a moral dilemma about it, but I think she'll get over it once she's watched TV a while. I, on the other hand, had no such dilemma.

I have a house to enjoy.
