The thesis is so close!
I'm awaiting the return of revisions from Dr. Schwartz. Zimmermann and Turcotte have both signed off, and now I'm waiting on Schwartz's final words on it. Once he's done, all I have to do... really, it's not that much... is copy it and turn it in on good paper. I already even have the good paper!
My focus has now turned to my summer classes and the Indiana text book. The Indiana text book is another project I've been working on for more than a year.... I opted to revise the geography of Indiana textbook for the department last summer. I had completed the text back then, and it's already finished. Now, I'm creating maps, graphics and designing the layouts. In baseball, they'd call me a five-tool player. In geography, I'm just a tool. Take that however you want to.
Regardless, that means I'm in here working on these layouts. Chapters 7 and 12 are finished.... meaning that there are only 12 more to go. A chapter, starting with raw text, usually takes me about 6 hours to create graphics and lay it out. Those two already finished are the more graphic-intensive. This also will require me to drive around Indiana to retrieve photographs, which should be fun but will be expensive and time consuming. Word is that the department's going to give me a car for the trip. That'd be great.
I have until July 22 to finish this. Wish me luck.
In other news, Dr. Schwartz is leaving the department to chair the newly formed department at Arkansas Tech. Good luck to him, but that will leave a huge void in the department. That makes four people leaving the department, and they're four that are about the hardest working. It's going to be interesting here, but I won't be involved. Kent State, here I come... Without his guidance, I wouldn't be going there, that's for certain.
Amy works this morning... a Saturday... and the one before July 4... I'm ready for her to be done. I want her to come home and snuggle.... but WAIT... it'll be time to go to Amy's parents' for a cookout with my parents. Luckily, our parents get along swingingly, so it should be fun. I'm also considering buying some simple fireworks for the occasion.
A former teacher of mine died a couple weeks ago. My high school class has a mail-list that's been used to disseminate such information, and since that news went out, everyone's been sending each other updates. I've been thinking about it, but then, I don't really care that much if many of them know what's happening in my life.
Hrm... (shrug)
