Amazingly, both Amy and my laptops have quit functioning properly, and both within the past week.
Amy's laptop is a little Dell, and it's covered by her super-support program thing. Her problems were the backspace, enter and space bar weren't working, which made it... difficult to use. She called last night and they're sending her a box. They will fix it and have it back within 10 business days. No questions asked. Hard drive in-tact.
My laptop is an iBook. A Mac. I love Macs, but this thing has been a piece of shit, and I'm still paying on it! The logic board for iBooks have been notorious for going out, and mine has gone out for the third time. This logic board problem means that the computer will stop working completely after reboot. Apple's policy was originally to charge for the repairs but so many went bad that they got into legal trouble. Now, they've extended warranty coverage on the logic board until 2007. Unfortunately, this is the third time it's happened, so their repairs have done nothing to fix the problem permanently. I'm getting sick of it! I'm just about to request a new computer altogether, though I'm sure they won't consider that. Additionally, I've got hundreds of CDs and thousands of pictures on the hard drive which I cannot replace. If they say they will wipe the hard drive, I will feel like killing them.
Anyway, I've gotten it so start and not-yet jam, so I'm trying DESPARATELY to copy the files over while I'm on hold with Apple. I've been on hold now for 12 minutes. Of course, I'm copying all of this to Gordon's old computer, which I guess will have to work for now. I have to be near the phone so that I can wait for Apple Support to remove the thumb from its ass..... I'm copying four folders and each of them have 120 minutes remaining, according to Gordon's computer.
Beep-boop... "Please Wait"... more music. Now 15 minutes into holding.
Finally got someone... 20 minutes in. More later.
