Fascism in America

I got this in the email a few days ago, written by Dr. Michael Sullivan, a very likeable old liberal professor who's retiring from the department at Ball State in a few weeks. Some good thoughts, and I just wanted to put it out there.

Blues Brothers and Boredom

Amy's at work on a stinkin' Saturday. It sucks, but at least she has a job, which right now is more than I can say I guess. I'm not unemployed, I'm a full-time student who's between jobs.

Jobs and Automobiles

Tim, Nick and I got the Oldsmobile running last night. I guess I should explain that a little more... Tim and Nick got the Oldsmobile running while I handed them tools and parts. It needed a starter, which means it can now start. They also changed the oil a few weeks ago, and cleaned the carbs out last night. Thing runs like it's brand new. I think the power steering pump may be about to die, but I won't be worrying with that until it does. Now, we'll have to plate it and insure it, and everything will be cool with that. It'll be nice to have it running for when we move... and it'll be great to have a second car. We don't really need one right now, but I'm sure we will soon.

Talk about a punch in the stomach...

So, I was cleaning out my bulk email box, and I found the following sent several days ago:

Odds and Ends, post-Hotlanta

Well, we're back from Atlanta, and there's really surprisingly little to report. The itinerary I designed seemed to work well, and we only made a few minor changes to the trip when necessary... once when we decided to take more time at the Martin Luther King site and once when a student got sick.
